The mission of the Environmental Protection Agency of the United States is to protect the health environment.
The EPA employs 18,000 people across the country, including our main offices in Washington, DC, 10 regional offices and more than a dozen laboratories. His staff consists of specialized personnel; more than half are engineers, scientists and political analysts. The EPA deals with: Development
and compliance with environmental regulations: The EPA works to develop and enforce regulations that implement environmental laws established by Congress.The EPA can issue sanctions and take measures to achieve the desired levels of environmental quality.
The EPA provides financial support for research and scholarships for graduates.
The agency supports environmental education projects that promote public awareness, knowledge and skills to take decisions that affect the environmental quality.
The agency provides information to the states and local governments and on financing for projects and environmental services.
The EPA also provides other attendances of financial aid through programs such as the State Fund for drinking water, the State Fund Clean Water, and the Rehabilitation Program.
Conducts environmental research: In laboratories, the agency is working to assess the environmental conditions, to identify, understand and environmental problems current and future; integrating the work of scientific partners such as nations, private sector organizations, academic institutions and other agencies; as well as providing leadership in addressing environmental problems, and in scientific and technological advances.
Promote consortia and voluntary programs: The agency works through its offices with more than 10,000 industries, organizations nonprofit, and state and local governments, in more than 40 voluntary programs for the prevention of pollution and efforts for the conservation of energy. Water Conservation and energy, the reduction of greenhouse gases reducing toxic emissions, recycling solid waste, controlling air pollution and controlling the risk of pesticides.
